About

Once Upon A Time….

I was a girl who liked to read.  A whole lot.  And so when I went to college, I tried to be sensible and major in Speech & Language Pathology because it would be a neat way to help people and make a decent living.  But it was boring and instead of doing my SLP homework, I read epic fantasy novels.  Thankfully, I came to my senses and changed my studies to English Lit with a Women Studies Minor so that I could barely read what I was supposed to, bullshit my way through most of my classes and still read ALL the epic fantasy I could get my hands on.  After that, I chose a career path that had nothing to do with college (*cough, cough…bartending and restaurant managing), had kids, became a small town Librarian, had another kid, found out I’m not great at desk work (thank you ADHD) and now I’m in what’s called ‘career transition’.

In 2010, I decided I was going to learn how to knit.  It was on my then unidentified ‘bucket list’ and was one of the biggest things that has ever happened to me (outside of fleece lined leggings…LIFE.  CHANGING).  From that first cast on I was HOOKED.  My poor instructor was an English Knitter…I am a natural Continental girl due to my left-handed Great-Grandmother who had taught me to crochet when I was about 7 (as a result, I hold my yarn all ‘funny’).  But, my instuctor patiently stuck with me, showed me the basics, told me about You Tube, and the rest is history!  I would no longer consider myself a ‘beginning knitter’.  Not an expert, but no longer a beginner.  Now I am dabbling in Pattern Creation, Writing, and navigating my way through all these new ideas.  Craft is one of the few things in my life that has helped my soul.

So in the interim, I’m exploring this whole blog/writer/crafter/activist Life-style.  If it goes anywhere, I’ll let you know.  Otherwise, you’re probably going to find me at a restaurant near you.

Dec 2015 update: Shortly after deciding this would be an awesome idea, my computer died and I actually DID end up at a restaurant near you.  I still hold out hope that I’ll get my shit together and hustle for a living.
